CHI Director and Associate Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health, Dr. Susan Anenberg, was appointed to three scientific advisory boards. She will serve on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board (SAB), with a dual appointment to its new Climate Science Board. The SAB is charged with providing scientific advice to the EPA Administrator through reviewing the quality and relevance of scientific and technical information, reviewing EPA research programs and plans, providing science advice as requested by the EPA Administrator, and advising the agency on broad scientific matters.
Dr. Anenberg was also appointed to the National Academies Committee to Advise the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP). "The Committee provides focused advice to the USGCRP by convening thought leaders and decision makers at semiannual meetings, providing strategic advice, reviewing draft plans, and serving as a portal to relevant activities from across the National Academies."
The World Health Organization also appointed Dr. Anenberg to its Global Air Pollution and Health Technical Advisory Group (GAPH-TAG). "The Advisory Group will review data and methods for the update of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Indicators related to air pollution for which WHO is the custodial agency as well as the interventions and responses the health sector can provide to protect health and reduce emissions. The group will also provide guidance and recommendations to global and national efforts to assess health considerations in climate mitigation policies, particularly with respect to raising ambition in nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement."
