CHI member and Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health, and of Epidemiology, Dr. David Michaels, was interviewed by the Washington Post about President Biden's announcement to develop new standards to protect the health and safety of workers as the planet warms and regions experience record heat waves.

President Biden recently tasked the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with developing a new safety standard that targets the protection of outdoor workers from extreme heat events in the face of a warming climate. “It demonstrates that the White House views worker safety as an integral component of the climate-change mitigation effort. While we’re trying to reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse-gas emissions, we have to protect the safety of the public. And this is an important component of that," says Michaels.
