Several CHI members gave TED-style talks to the GW community as part of the Columbian College Office of Research's WOWTalks. Wow Talks (What's Our Work) is a series of short talks aimed at introducing GW community members to the different types of research being conducted across GW, with the aim of fostering discussion and collaboration. Dr. Dan Goldberg, Assistant Research Professor, presented on how we can leverage satellite instruments to visualize and quantify air and climate pollution from space! Key takeaway: eliminating the burning of fossil fuels = 4,000 averted cases of pediatric asthma in the DMV.
Dr. Robert Orttung, Research Professor of International Affairs and Director of Research for Sustainable GW, presented on the Green Economic Transition in Northern Sweden! Key takeaway: green economy = reduced greenhouse gases, yet raises questions on equity and justness of the transition.
