CHI Co-Director, Director of the GW Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center, and Associate Professor of Medicine, Dr. Anjeni Keswani, co-authored a paper published in the American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy, entitled "The Impact of Social Determinants and Air Pollution on Healthcare Disparities in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps." This article synthesizes the existing literature to discuss how air pollution, race, and socioeconomic status influence healthcare disparities in the diagnosis and management of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. It highlights that increased exposure to air pollutants influences the cellular development of chronic sinusitis as well as the severity and response to treatments.
