Continuing the Climate and Health Connections Series, the GW Climate and Health Institute will host a participatory discussion with journalist and author Lisa Palmer, National Geographic Research Professor of Science Communication in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences and Senior Editor at GW’s Planet Forward. Palmer will discuss her work and research on science and sustainability journalism, and the practical aspects of communicating the interconnected and complex issues of climate change, public health, and global food security. Palmer will also share her research on online threats against and harassment of science journalists and how newsrooms are doing little to protect them. Furthermore, her talk will include current research on communication and storytelling used in interdisciplinary science teams and how university scientists can increase their relatability and public engagement through science-in-action multimedia. This event will take place on March 8, 2023 at 12 PM EST in room 700A at the Milken Institute School of Public Health. Lunch will be provided and registration is required. This event is in person and open to all GW Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni.
